TL Music Studio

TL Music Studio is LIVE!

November 1st, 2023
We're excited to announce that we've cut the tape on our recording studio! Read on to enjoy a quick glimpse into the process of how this new creative space came to be...

More than a year in the making, our Recording Studio is officially complete! Over the past few weeks, a handful of students have been test-driving its capabilities and you can check out their product below.

"It's a really fun experience that everybody in this school should try."
-Nikita, 7th Grade

The idea began in the waning months of Spring, 2022. With the attached Band Room office not being utilized efficiently, we brainstormed about how to repurpose the space. One of the essential questions was, "What can we do that's both musical and unique to most Middle Schools out there?" With a vision of fusing music and technology in mind, a studio jumped to the top of the list. Students in Band & Orchestra are invited to practice, rehearse with small ensembles, and create multimedia projects, either alone or with their friends.

"The studio helps develop your musical skills in a fun way."
-Nalin, 8th Grade

Most of the equipment we have was generously donated by families from an Amazon Wish List - Thank You! For the tech junkies out there, here are the specs in the room:

"This has been a very collaborative process!"
-Martin, 8th Grade

The future of the newest addition to our music program is only limited to our students' creativity! We have already seen a heartwarming amount of collaboration, exploring, and risk-taking between TL musicians and we can't wait to share more projects with you. Our first sample is ready to share!

"We're getting an insight into digital music production."
-Adrienne, 8th Grade

"Autumn Leaves" is a standard piece of Jazz repertoire. Originally written in French, it was translated into English in 1950 by Johnny Mercer and was made popular by Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, and Frank Sinatra. This version was recorded one instrument at a time by Tierra Linda students and combines sampled percussion, electric bass & guitar, and a trumpet & alto saxophone duet.

"I never thought I'd be using technology to make music. This is cool."
-Deniz, 7th Grade
